Dhaka walking tour

Because the weather is nice now we went on a Old town walking tour.

We choose a Saturday because it is not too busy then. The other option was a Friday, but then everything is closed, it might be too quiet.

The guide was a nice man who fights a.o. for buildings to be on the heritage list. He had a lot of stories about old buildings, but frankly we were more interested in life in the old city now and there was not much left of the old buildings.

Hereby a short photo impression.

Random street. The flags are in honour of Victory day on 16 December (the day after we were here)

Boiled eggs, including quail eggs

Buy your victory day souvenirs here!

Lots of sandals (just the bottom, we saw the toe part later, a big pile on another rikshaw)

We are being watched, constantly.

'Zagen, zagen wiede wiede wagen...' I don't know the english song about this, sorry.

Old cave, cellar kind of thing. The man tried hard to explain, but as said, we were more interested in the people.

Girl checking the rubbish.

Part of the old 'castle' now in disrepair, most people don't really care.
Most evidence of the old buildings is gone.

Plastic bag printer

I think they used yellow and red.

Photo smile!

Captain's log.

The middle one must be called the Fonz.

More audience

Big boat (motorised) goes up (down) river for 5 taka (Euro 0,05) and the small ones bring you across for 2 taka.

Mooring

You look at me in the same way as I look at you. Mutual curiousness.

It does bring out the eyes

Should water be black?

Drying, foodstuff

The clothes get cleaner, but is it healthy?

Drying plastic for recycling

Drying dung and red, green and yellow things

Snack?

I must not forget to twit him

Up-down river boat, normal number of people

Taxi?

New film: Spiderman in the flour factory

I didn't see this, and I don't know this is in the flour factory, and I definitely don't know what our bread is made of. I did wonder why all the girls were out of there within half a second. They could have taken that spider away, makes the place look dirty.

We went, with about 18 of us, on the left one.

Random ornament

Kids stay there, their families live outside Dhaka. Kids earn about 15 euro a month, the ladies in the back about 30.

Nice pillar, should be a monument in stead in a neglected building with illegal residents.

Bird 'thingy'

Victory day (I guess)

A bit eery those dolls heads.

Haircut

Nice lunch afterwards. Not a sharp photo due to the fact I made it one-handed.

All in all a nice but tiring day.
