Friends of ours have joined one the Boat Consortiums that are here in Dhaka - it essentially means that they are the joint owners of a boat - and can book it for trips on the river - and we were lucky enough to get an invite to go along for the day.
An early start on Friday morning saw us driving to an unknown part of town in the rain, initially drizzling, but torrential in others....fortunately, by the time we arrived and were embarking it was just raining hard!
The rain turned out to be a blessing in disguise - lately the heat/humidity has been pretty high, but the rains and breezes meant that we didn't sweat out our bodyweight as we had anticipated.
Leaving the bustle of the city, seeing such greenery, and open (if grey) skies is such a tonic for the soul
