Parental visit part 2; Dhamrai and Old Dhaka

One other outing is Dhamrai, a village just north-west of Dhaka.

Because I work at the embassy, I have to inform the police of every trip I take outside of Dhaka. So far they were very relaxed about it, but recently they seem to take this very seriously. Our driver had several calls and as soon as we were over the city border an escort was awaiting us. Not that it makes any difference. Upon arrival in Dhamrai two policemen followed our every move, slightly annoying.
Dhamrai is a little Hindu village which traditionally makes music instruments and bronze. Unfortunately the tradition is very much under threat. We might have visited the last generation of bronze makers.

The statues are first molded in wax

On Friday we went to Old Dhaka. On a Friday because the traffic is then less bad and you are able to move around a bit more easily.
Sadhargat is in the heart of the town, here the boats come from everywhere. A hub of activity of goods and people.

Some piers are better than others

Lalbagh fort is one of the places where you hang around and take pictures of each other and others. If possible you dress up, but also a place for after school.

There is no limit to what and how many people you can put on a rickshaw
