Bagan, located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River, is home to the largest and densest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world with many dating from the 11th and 12th centuries...says Wiki Travel.
Still we were unprepared for the sheer number of temples and pagodas visible at every turn.
Our guide seemed determined to show us all the "best" sights, and took us to many sites. Sadly we can no longer remember any relevant details...since while we were staying in Bagan we received the news that Lon has a new position, in Ghana, and that we will be relocating in February

We watched as monks either deposited their very full collection bowls of rice into the pot, or some received a portion - the pot never seemed to empty. The curries and other dishes are donated too by families in the neighborhood in smaller portions, which are then distributed round tables for four. This insight was a rounding out of the alms collection process which we had also witness in Luang Prabang the year before.
