Blue skies

I'm a member of the North American Women's Association, which is in fact a lively international group - this week 30 or so of us went to visit Blue Skies - a local brand which we know mostly from the roadside juice vendors.

It turned out to be a very interesting and enlightening morning. Blue Skies is it turns out, the largest private employer in Ghana, and is mostly busy with preparing and packaging tropical fruits for the supermarkets in Europe.  The sheer quantity of fruit passing through this factory 24 hours a day was surprising. All the good promo information can be found here - http://www.blueskies.com/about/

we were given some samples - which we were all quite keen to receive - which is weird considering we can buy the same fruit at any roadside stall, and process ourselves with a knife!

23-24 April Vik - Keflavik

23 April Day 5
the incredible sunshine finally left us, and it was a much more atmospheric drive with clouds, wind, rain and rainbows

Road leading off road to the gannet colony - a Top Gear moment

road back to the valley

good soups were a feature of Iceland lunches

brown sugar meringue was a delicious one-off

The Blue Lagoon -a tourist trap, but still fun

nice blonde beer

I would go back to Iceland in a heartbeat, we enjoyed the sense of otherness very much - the landscapes were immense and alien, the air clean and fresh, the food especially the fish and lamb were excellent.
