Shishu Polli Plus

A mere two months ago (laptop got drowned, a month in UK/NL, and a bad internet connection), I went with a small group from the British Women's Association (BWA) to visit Shishu Polli Plus - www.sreepurvillage.org which translates as Children's Village Plus - plus what you may ask - well it was evidently plus many things, but Pat, the founder explained they added it to the name as a catch all, so that they could within their NGO status carry out other activities.

I have forgotten all of the details of all the things that I wanted to say, but the outline of the organisation can be found on their website - but in a nutshell - it's long term rehabilitation for vulnerable women and their children. The site itself was clean and spacious, and well laid out.

Jane's driver identified these as "honey boxes" - an excellent name which I will try to remember. These were funded by the BWA a few years back

Leaky fish pond - despite all their best (and University approved) efforts, the tanks leak in the dry season

more makeup than me

teddy bears out of the cupboard for showing off

Rice ready for lunch - they eat 110kg per day here!

loved the echoes of the Bangladeshi flag

cards that are sold in UK and here

odd rest station. We had to pull in to avoid some agitation ahead on the road. At the time we had no idea what caused it, but we knew something was wrong when all the traffic started turning round.  It turned out that a garment factory worker had been run down on the road, and that the factory workers had then gone on the rampage

once the traffic was moving along, we started out again

Riot police were there too
