Visit to villages near Sylhet with FIVDB (part 2)

Sunday 23rd June

Another two hour drive from Sylhet saw us travelling from Sunamgonj Sadar Upazila Haluarghat Ghat to Puraton Gudigaon village

Observe classroom activities at Puraton Gudigaon Primary School,
discussion with School Management Committee members-  this committee was quite positive about being able to continue without the funding of the FIVDB (from the Netherlands), the other schools we visited were not so optimistic.

 

One of the village elders took us to the pond - he was trying to see if there were funds available to shore up the banks of the pond - as there are problems every year.

To reach the next village we took a boat across the river and then onto Easybikes - an electric powered rickshaw with two benches.

Monday morning was a morning of wrap ups and meetings with FIVDB

Interspersed with a flying sudden visit to another Embassy funded program in Sylhet - UCEP   - which provides vocational secondary education to the poorest - it was a clean bright school where students were taking their exams.
